In the Fall of 2018, I had the privilege of interning in the Entomology Department at the Smithsonian Instiution National Museum of Natural History. I worked on a project that hoped to establish the global patterns and biodiversity of the parasitic wasp family, Ichneumonidae. The wasps were collected from two different types of traps, malaise and yellow pan trap (YPT), at a nature reserve in Pennsylvania. I was responsible for mounting, pinning, and labeling the individual specimens so they could be sorted into their subfamilies and morphospecies. I was responsible for sorting the specimens into their subfamilies and morphospecies so an analysis of the two traps could be done. This project is still ongoing at the museum.
